Adelaide vs Hawthorn

Thursday Night @ Adelaide Oval

Preview:

Fifteen weeks ago, this looked like a good game. However, a lot can happen in a footy week, let alone 15. The Hawks have slumped to their worst season in years and the Crows are even Premiership favourites with the Giants. Hawthorn played well for the first half of this match up in Round 2, but lost the match to Eddie Betts as it went on. The highest scoring team vs 15th ranked scoring team, a whopping 40 points averaged scored between them (118 v 78). It would take a miracle for the Hawks to win.

Chance of winning:

CROWS: 90% (48 points)

HAWKS 10%

Sydney vs Essendon

Friday Night @ SCG

Preview:

This is a really interesting game based on where these teams are at. It also will be huge for them both in the overall context of the season. Sydney have had the Bombers number the past few match ups, thanks in large part to Buddy Franklin. He is, as always, the catalyst and will be heavily involved if the Swans do get up. Essendon are coming off the bye and their huge win against Port Adelaide, so they will be rested and full of confidence. Regardless, I am going Sydney due to home ground advantage.

Chance of winning:

SYDNEY: 55% (12 Points)

ESSENDON: 45%

Collingwood vs Port Adelaide

Saturday Afternoon @ MCG

Preview:

This game should be a lot closer than their ladder positions suggest. Fourth-placed Port and 13th placed Collingwood have both been fairly good over the past few rounds. Collingwood simply need to win to keep their finals chances alive. Port, on the other hand, need to get back on track with a good away win after their disastrous Essendon game. Ryder vs Grundy is exciting. This could go either way; a draw is a possibility.

Chance of winning:

MAGPIES: 51% (1 Point)

PORT: 49%

Brisbane vs GWS

Saturday Twilight @ Gabba

Preview:

The Lions have shown some serious fight over the last few rounds, but this should be a massive win for the Giants. They will be looking to make a statement after their loss to the Blues two weeks ago and the poor Lions will be the innocent victims. Dayne Zorko, Dayne Beams and Tom Rockliff will have to all be at their best for the Lions to even have a sniff. GWS by a lot.

Chance of winning:

GIANTS: 95% (62 Points)

LIONS: 5%

Western Bulldogs vs North Melbourne

Saturday Night @ Etihad Stadium

Preview:

Is a Premiership hangover real? It’s looking like it as the Bulldogs have slid outside of the 8. Both teams need to recover from disappointing losses and both need to win to keep finals dreams on track. The Bulldogs definitely have the better team on paper. If Jason Johannisen, Tom Boyd and Jake Stringer can all start to regain their best footy, then they will be hard to beat.

Chance of winning:

BULLDOGS: 65% (23 Points)

KANGAROOS: 35%

West Coast vs Melbourne

Saturday Night @ Domain Stadium

Preview:

We could be in for an exciting match if the Demons bring what they brought to Perth last year. Both teams playing well in recent weeks should be confident that they can get the job done. But playing in Perth is almost a 4 goal handicap. The Eagles have a lot more to lose here, even if Max Gawn returns to the Demons line-up. Should be a good game, and would be a different game at the MCG, that’s for sure.

Chance of winning:

EAGLES: 55% (14 Points)

DEMONS: 45%

Geelong vs Fremantle

Sunday Afternoon @ Simonds Stadium

Preview:

Geelong returns to their beloved home ground after a disappointing trip to Perth. With the return of Tom Hawkins from suspension, they should bounce back strongly this week. Fremantle’s chances have been slightly boosted after injuries to Scott Selwood and Nakia Cockatoo, but it won’t be enough. The Cats play their ground better than anyone else does their own.

Chance of winning:

CATS: 75% (32 Points)

DOCKERS: 25%

Richmond vs Carlton

Sunday Afternoon @ MCG

Preview:

This could be a really good game. Carlton should be looking to make a big statement and keep their finals hopes alive. Richmond would make a great scalp for the Blues, and their defence might just be enough to get them their. They have been incredible down back through Kade Simpson, Sam Docherty and now Liam Jones. If Richmond want to be taken seriously as a Top 4 team, let alone a Top 8 team, then they need to win and win well on Sunday.

Chance of winning:

TIGERS: 75% (35 Points)

BLUES: 25%

St Kilda vs Gold Coast

Sunday Twilight @ Etihad Stadium

Preview:

Arguably the best player to play the game in the last 20 years will celebrate his 300th game this week. Gary Ablett Jnr is still an absolute machine with and without the ball. Hopefully, his teammates can get up and get him across the line in his milestone game. In his way stands an inconsistent St Kilda side. They should be clear favourites here, but not something that you would want to put a lot of money on. There’s just something unsettling about either of these teams being a favourite to win. Regardless, I think the Suns pull something out of the bag and win for the Little Champ.

Chance of winning:

SAINTS: 60%

SUNS: 40% (4 Point Upset)

Happy Tipping!
